Happy world toilet day!
As you're enjoying your daily poo today, spare a thought for the 2.5 billion people around the world who don't have adequate sanitation. And if you're the kind of person who's always online, even while on the loo, that's the perfect opportunity to check out our video of ordinary Australians calling on our government to invest more in life-saving water and sanitation through our aid program, and sign our petition online.
Finally, we wanted to let you know more about the giant toilet's movements...
The giant toilet has now been to 35 locations across 5 states. It's been seen at festivals and fairs, out the front of and inside shopping centres, at trivia nights and cricket matches. It's been the centrepiece of events run by schools, churches, colleges and community groups. It's been seen by more than 20,000 people in the "real world" and by thousands more online.
And it's still going strong. We'd like to get as many Australians involved, and as many signatures as possible on the petition between now and World Water Day – March 22, 2013 – to let the government know that Australians want their aid doing real good in the lives of the poorest communities in the world.
